Navigating Breast Cancer: Meet our Heroes in Pink

By: All for the Breast Editorial Team, October 3, 2015

Patient navigation takes many forms. Some navigators are breast cancer survivors, some are nurses, some are spokespeople, and some are all of the above. Navigators help patients better understand their diagnoses, take notes during doctor appointments and schedule follow-ups, translate for non-English speakers, provide information on treatment options, and so much more. From encouraging preventative screenings to providing end of life care, the role of patient navigator is unique to each person. However, all strive to dissolve barriers to accessing quality treatment and knowledge. They are true heroes of the breast cancer community – Heroes in Pink.

The Avon Foundation for Women is proud to showcase the six women below who represent a rich variety of what patient navigation looks like today. Our Heroes in Pink are from all across the country and work with diverse populations, but what unites them is a shared commitment to ensuring people have the support they need. Read on to learn more about our Heroes in Pink – what they do, what inspires them, and how they are changing the world.
