An Inside Look at the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade’s Impact – Prioritizing Metastatic Breast Cancer

By: All for the Breast Editorial Team, September 27, 2017

There are currently no cures for metastatic breast cancer and an estimated 154,974 patients live with the disease. Metastatic breast cancer patients have a unique set of needs as compared to those with early-stage breast cancer.

The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade and Pfizer Oncology collaborated to create the Avon-Pfizer Metastatic Breast Cancer Grants Program. This program is committed to fund programs that exclusively improve the quality of life for underserved metastatic breast cancer patients by meeting their unique needs in areas including: food insecurity, integrative medicine, psychosocial support, education and information, connection to clinical trials, medication assistance and patient navigation.

In the second part of our impact video series, we explore how the Avon-Pfizer Metastatic Grants Program is tackling the needs of underserved metastatic breast cancer patients so they can experience a better quality of life:

“What is unique about the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade and our funding is that we seek to support breast cancer patients across the continuum of care.” – Carolyn Ricci, Program Director, Avon Breast Cancer Crusade
